Advantage Women’s Leadership and Empowerment Conference to be Held in Sydney in April

SYDNEY, NS — The Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the Center for Women in Business, is hosting an event in Sydney to bring women entrepreneurs together.

Advantage’s second annual Women’s Leadership and Empowerment Conference will be held April 29 at the Holiday Inn on the Esplanade.

“We are thrilled to be able to host this in-person conference this year,” Melissa Vickers, events coordinator for the Cape Breton Regional Chamber of Commerce, said in a statement.

“We are seeing a strong emergence of women entrepreneurs and leaders right here in Cape Breton, and we wanted to bring women together to inspire, empower, learn and grow together through discussions about the important change that is happening with women in the world of business and entrepreneurship. »

More than 150 women participated in the 2020 inaugural conference, which was held virtually.

Organizers said the aim of the event was to empower women and increase awareness of gender equity.

The one-day conference will feature several panels with speakers from various Cape Breton industries. Tina Varughese, an expert in cross-cultural communication and diversity, who was named one of Canada’s Top 10 Speakers by Ignite magazine, will speak at the event.

More information about the conference is available on the Chamber of Commerce website.
