American gymnastics | The Women’s Development Program season concludes with the 2022 National Championships in Mesa, Arizona.
MESA, Ariz., May 19, 2022 – The 2022 USA Gymnastics Women’s Development Program Level 10 competitive season ended Sunday as the second combined men’s and women’s National Championships wrapped up at Bell Bank Park. in Mesa, Arizona.
Region 1, representing Arizona, California, Nevada and Utah, won this year’s Super Team title with a total of 84 points. Region 5, which covers Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan and Ohio, was second with 70 points. Region 8 (Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee) finished with 61 points, edging out Region 3 (Arkansas, Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming ) a single point for third place.
As in previous years, individual all-around and apparatus titles were awarded in six junior divisions and six senior divisions, but this year’s championships also saw the introduction of a Wildcard competition. The Wildcard Division included nearly 150 athletes who represented the next five all-around and individual rankings of their respective Regional Championships once regional team rosters for the traditional AF Junior and Senior Divisions were established.
