All India Congress Committee (AICC) spokesperson Supriya Shrinate said Nadda was not the first BJP leader to poke fun at women’s empowerment and her statement on the issue was unfortunate.

“What issues does the BJP have with empowering women and why does the BJP make fun of women and girls? Shrinate asked. She said Nadda was targeting the Congressional campaign and alleged that he and his party were not in favor of empowering women.

Shrinate said Congress Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi Vadra was ready to change such mentality and called for empowering women, giving them jobs, making them fearless, safe and secure. She said Priyanka had promised a 40% reserve to female candidates in the 2022 UP Assembly election.
