CM orders reinforcement of police helpline and hotline number 112

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami said concerted efforts for women’s empowerment and security should be made in Uttarakhand so that a message from the state is carried across the country. He ordered officers to emphasize women’s safety and empowerment in the state. Dhami gave the guidelines while chairing a meeting on worker safety and empowerment at the State Department on Friday. He said all departments should work in a coordinated manner to ensure that women are included in large numbers in employment and self-employment projects. The CM stated that a solid work plan should be developed at departmental level for the safety of women workers. He said the police helpline and the 112 helpline should be strengthened. The CM stated that, according to the rules, women are entitled to maternity leave and that it should be ensured that every working woman receives this benefit. He ordered that a women’s help desk be set up in all institutes and that a registration system for working women in an area be put in place and that for this the police, labor and the relevant department meet.

Dhami said regular meetings of the committee set up to prevent sexual harassment of women in the workplace should be held and everyone should be aware of the Sexual Harassment Mailbox (SHE) in the workplace. Urging all government departments to work as a team, the CM said departments should focus on improving their working culture. He added that effective efforts are needed to prevent child labor in the state.
During the meeting, Deputy Inspector General of Police Senthil Abudai Krishnraj S gave a presentation on the proposed One Stop Solution Application. Women working in the organized and unorganized sectors could register in the app at the time of their appointment. He said female employees working in industries and factories and their employers would be encouraged to obtain the registration of female workers in the one-stop solution application.

The meeting was attended by Additional Chief Secretary Radha Raturi, Director General of Police Ashok Kumar, ADG Law and Order V Murugeshan, Secretaries R Meenakshi Sundaram, HC Semwal, Deependra Chaudhary, IG Vimala Gunjyal and others.
