At the annual republic day parade in New Delhi on Wednesday, the Seema Bhawani of Border Security Forces the motorcycle team has had a lasting impact. The all-female team led by Inspector Himanshu Sirohi rode past on their motorcycles, while simultaneously performing various stunts such as double-back riding.
A member of the team, Anita Bharti, rode her motorbike as she read a copy of India Today magazine. The India Today magazine theme she wore was ‘The power of women’.

EMPHASIZING WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT
Speaking to India Today after the parade, Anita Bharti said: “The decision to hold the magazine was taken by our team captain Himanshu Sirohi. We were trying to do something innovative this time.
Himanshi Sirohi added, “It’s not easy to ride a bike and do stunts. We wanted to portray female empowerment – we ride bikes and also read India Today magazine. The cover of the magazine featured women empowerment and that’s why I decided that our team should hold the magazine.
The Home Office shared a video of the display on Twitter. Anita Bharti riding a bicycle while reading India Today magazine can be seen approximately twenty seconds after the start of the video.

The Seema Bhawani team was formed in 2016 and participated in the Republic Day Parade for the first time in 2018. This was the team’s second appearance at the prestigious parade.
India celebrates its 73rd Republic Day This year. The Republic Day Parade on Delhi’s Rajpath featured 16 marching contingents, 17 military bands and 25 tableaux from various states, union territories, departments and armed forces.
