JOALI donates to three women’s development committees in Raa Atoll

Donations will reach more than 3,000 people living on these three neighboring islands.

JOALI is a strong supporter of community engagement and the empowerment of women. To honor the economic aspirations of women, the station promotes education and vocational training for women with the aim of opening avenues of self-sufficiency and opportunities for social entrepreneurship.

To foster community engagement and empower women, JOALI donated funds to support three Women’s Development Committees (WDC) in Raa Atoll: Raa Innamaadhoo WDC, Raa Rasmaadhoo WDC, and Raa Maakurathu WDC. The donations were given to the representatives of the WDCs by the JOALI team, in collaboration with the general manager of JOALI Maldives, Enver Arslan, during a small gathering in Raa Maakurathu.

Enver highlighted the relationship JOALI has with the communities of Raa Atoll and the hope of forging even closer ties by developing more community projects in the coming year.

The three WDCs will use the funds for the following community development projects:

  • Raa Innamaadhoo WDC will renovate the island’s waste disposal area and place bins in public areas on the island.
  • Raa Maakurathu WDC will develop a “Rayyithunge Hiyaa”, a community public space in the children’s park.
  • Raa Rasmaadhoo WDC will build a shaded waiting area for parents and students outside the school.

Donations will reach more than 3,000 people living on these three neighboring islands.

JOALI Maldives’ CSR strategy, Joy of Caring, focuses on Joy of Preserving, which promotes environmental initiatives; Joy of Supporting, which promotes community engagement; Joy of Empowering, which supports the empowerment of women; and Joy of Conserving, which promotes operational sustainability.
