Women and men in blue enforced the law in honor of Women’s Day on August 11.

Women in Blue set up a roadblock on Voortrekker Road in Kempton Park as part of crime prevention.
Officers also advocated for GBV reporting.
According to Colonel Lesomo of SAPS Kempton Park, the roadblock was in line with community safety protocol for residents of Kempton Park.
“Operation Basadi focused on illegal firearms because we realized that most of these days women are being killed and we wonder where these firearms are coming from,” Lesomo said. .
Kempton Park SAPS spokesman Captain Jethro Mtshali said the roadblock was dedicated to empowering not just women in blue, but also women in the community.

“With the scourge of violence against women, it is important that we instill in women that they are empowered and should know their rights in terms of what to do in case they become victims of violence,” Mtshali said.
