Seminar on “The Emergence of Women’s Leadership” held at SU – Pakistan

HYDERABAD: The Women’s Leadership Club Pakistan Study Center University of Sindh Jamshoro organized the awareness-raising seminar “Emergence of Women’s Leadership: Challenges and Opportunities” to explore the factors of female leadership and promote a safe and secure environment, gender equality, socio-economic rights and women’s issues.

The seminar was organized in collaboration with Sindh Police, Sindh Government, Women’s Protection Cell and Anti-Harassment Cell of Sindh University.

The President of the Women’s Leadership Club, Ms. Sanam Altaf Chandio, welcomed all guest speakers and outlined the goals and objectives of the Club. She said the main goal of the Club is to engage students in positive activities.

In his opening speech, Prof. Dr. Shuja Ahmed Mahesar, Director of the Pakistan Studies Center at Sindh Jamshoro University, emphasized three “Es”: education, employment and education. empowerment of women.

He further elaborated the objectives of Pakistan Study Center in accordance with the law of the Center and highlighted the performance of the Center in education, research and community service.

He said the main goal of establishing the Women’s Leadership Club is to achieve United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5, which is about gender equality.

The director analyzed the challenges faced by women, including domestic violence, gender discrimination and lack of safety in the workplace. He said the social status of women in a social structure intoxicated by feudal values ​​and patriarchal norms remains unchanged. In addition, women are neglected in the area of ​​decision-making. Dr Shuja Ahmed stressed the need to ensure the participation of women as provided for in Article 34 of 1973.
