New Chittoor District Police (SP) Superintendent Y. Rishant Reddy said on Monday top priority would be given to friendly policing and women’s safety.
After taking charge of the 65th SP from Chittoor District, Mr Rishant Reddy addressed the media at his apartments here. He said the majority of society’s problems could be effectively solved through friendly police.
“In line with the mission of the state government to eradicate crimes against women, the police personnel working under Disha Police Station would be galvanized to ensure one hundred percent safety for women,” the SP said.
The official said Disha patrol vehicles would be provided to staff on duty as needed, and surveillance would be stepped up in all areas that have reported crimes against women in the past.
Mr Rishant Reddy, who previously worked as an additional SP of the Special Law Enforcement Bureau in Chittoor District, said the experience would help him a lot in dealing with the problems of illicit alcohol, smuggling red sanders, gutka and other prohibited goods. . He said that anti-social activities would be ruthlessly suppressed.
Later, he participated in the Spandana program at the district police office and received complaints from the public. He instructed police personnel attached to the Spandana wing to give top priority to the speedy settlement of cases.
