W20 should produce points of regulation on female empowerment

North Minahasa, North Sulawesi (ANTARA) – The Women Twenty (W20) agenda, held in Likupang, North Minahasa, North Sulawesi, is expected to produce regulatory points on women’s empowerment, the president said on Wednesday. of the W20, Handriani Uli Silalahi.
“The agenda, from the first to the fourth event, should produce items that still provide for regulations on women’s empowerment,” she noted.
The W20 is one of the engagement groups of the G20, which focuses on discussing women’s empowerment, she explained.
The W20 organized in Likupang is the first of the whole range of side events.
“There are four events in Likupang, Batu, Banjarmasin and Papua. Meanwhile, the W20 Summit will be held in Lake Toba,” she explained.
These four sets of events should become the W20 statement to be presented at the G20 meeting.
Likupang was selected to support the government’s order to choose Indonesia’s super priority tourist destinations, Silalahi added.
“The expectation is to choose tourist spots outside of Bali. The first will be held in Likupang and the last will be held in Lake Toba,” she remarked.
Four topics will be discussed during the W20 agenda in Likupang.
The first subject concerns the strengthening of equality and the fight against discrimination, for which discussions have been carried out each year and are still in progress.
The second is about ways to lead women to become the centers of economic recovery, including helping them own micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
The third prioritizes marginalized women in villages, remote areas typically left behind by other women in cities, and marginalized women with disabilities.
Meanwhile, the fourth women’s question revolves around the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically access to women’s health.
North Sulawesi Governor Olly Dondokambey said the W20 will provide the necessary impetus to promote equality, security and prosperity by eliminating discrimination against women.
