Women’s Leadership Conference Focuses on the Workplace

Put aside competition and focus on collaboration. That was the message of a recent women’s leadership conference, which focused on workplace learning and growth.
For this year’s Collaborative with Edge Leadership conference, the April 28 meeting returned to its in-person format at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury.
“We succeed when we set aside our competition for a day and recognize that when we work together, we can overcome the challenges women face, leading to a more successful workplace,” said Ivy Algazy, CEO of The Ivy. Network, which created the conference. A declaration.
“Listening to the presenters inspires attendees to be more proactive and take the lead to succeed,” she added.
Conference speakers offered insights on self-help, financial empowerment, bold leadership in the workplace and other issues.
This year’s keynote speaker was Amber Mundinger, COO for Artists Den Entertainment. Speakers included Erin Zammett Ruddy, author of The Little Book of Life Skills and reporting director at HGTV magazine; as well as Alvina Lo, Rhea Thomas, Meghan Shue and Ann Silverman of Wilmington Trust, who discussed economic trends.
Adrienne Harris, Superintendent of the New York State Department of Financial Services, and Kara Hahn and Siela Bynoe, legislators and congressional candidates, discussed the role of women in politics.
A number of organizations sponsored the conference.
This included Island Harvest, the nonprofit sponsor of the conference, and attendees donating to the organization, enabling it to feed 1,700 families.
Other sponsors came from all industries in the region.
